How to Lead a Life of Crime

In How to Lead a Life of Crime the main character is going to a school called Mandel Academy; Mandel Academy train students to be a criminal. In this school only a few people will get to graduate, the people who don't graduate will disappear.
Flick is waiting outside of a bar; when someone comes out he plans to run into him/her on accident to steal their wallet. A girl walks out of the bar, Flick goes up and steals her wallet and walked away. When Flick was stealing the wallet a man saw him and made him give it back, but Flick ignored him. Suddenly that person comes and punched the side of his face. He didn't fall because he was trained how to catch a punch, but his face started bleeding. Flick told the man to punch him again, and the man did, but this time nothing really happened. After the man punched him, he said it was his turn and punched the man; and broke his nose. After he punched the man a few more times he told the girl to call the ambulance for the man.

Between Shades of Gray

To survive everyone in the train had work together and help others. When it was Lina's mom's turn to get off the train, she went saw a candy store and bought some candy. She went back into the train, she put all the candy on the floor so people could choose their own candy. When they were at Trofimovsk (The top of the Arctic Gircle, near the North Pole), everyone huddled together to stay warm.
Because no one lives at Trofimovsk, so they had to build their own house. They made a house out of logs, mud, sand and moss. One day, Lina and some other people found a dead owl on the ground, and they brought it back to their house and cooked it.

Between Shades of Gray

Lina and her mother and brother are arrested by three Soviet officers. Now they have 25 minutes to pack up. So they are only packing up things that's important such as food, clothes, and money.  When the Soviet officiers broke in they saw Lina's mother breaking all of her crystals, they got mad and slammed her with a rifle.
Lina suddenly saw the coat with valuable things sewed on it. She went to the restroom and changed into the coat as quickly as possible. After she changed into the coat  they were taken away.

Out of the Easy

Josie's mother left after a few months Josie was born. At first Cincinnati (the person Josie's mother likes) was really mean to Josie's mother, he would hit her and he had stolen her jewlery and left. Now Ciniciannati came back and Josie's mother said that they will be going to California together and will not come back. When she told Josie that they will be leaving soon, Josie got really mad and tried to stopped her. Because Josie's mother really liked him, she got mad at Josie and they got in a fight. When everyone else heard about that Josie's mother was leaving with Cincinnati, they thought it was a bad idea, but it was too late. Josie's mother and Cinicinnati already left.
Josie's mother told Josie to tell Willie that she went to California after they leave. But Willie somehow heard about it earlier. She came up to Josie and asked her when her mother left, and if Josie had seen her mother.

My summer reading book was The Round House. The theme of this book is that people shouldn't be treated differently because of their skin color, their religion or where they are from. I think this is the theme of the book because in my book Joe's mother which was an Indian was attacked by a white man. In the book the white man that attacked Joe's mother said that he hated Indian women. We should never treat someone else differently because it could make people feel left out.

Here is an article I found about The Round House.

The article I found on Google includes two videos of Louise Erdrich at the National Book Award ceremony, a citation, a summary, and some information about the author.
